The third annual Squamish Mural Walk Festival will take place from July 28 to July 30 in Downtown Squamish. Don’t miss out on another captivating weekend of Art, Culture, Community, and Entertainment!

The Squamish Mural Walk is a free, year-round self-guided tour of the murals in Downtown Squamish.

At the 2023 Squamish Mural Walk Festival from July 28 – July 30, a number of new murals will be added, bringing together a diversity of artists and adding to the existing murals which date back to 2000, many of which are thanks to the Squanderer Mural Festival and the District of Squamish Public Art Committee.

The best way to explore the murals in Downtown Squamish is by simply taking a stroll with the self-guided tour. Experience the diverse local cultures, history, and heritage of Squamish dating back to 2000 at your own pace while tagging #downtownSquamish and #SquamishMuralWalk with your favourite artists.

Everybody is welcome to come by the tents at Stan Clarke park from 10am – 4pm daily (July 28, 29 & 30) to collect a map or join a tour, then take the walk to see live mural installations taking place and visit the existing murals. All over downtown, they’ll be exciting activities happening, from Open Street Day on Saturday (10am – 5pm) to live music, art, and family entertainment.

We invite you to immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Squamish’s heritage as you wander through our DSBIA catchment area, adorned with over 35 captivating murals. These artistic masterpieces embody the essence of diverse cultures and the history that has shaped our town.

Art in its many forms has the remarkable ability to breathe life into public spaces, ignite contemplation, and transform our daily surroundings.  Through the murals showcased in downtown Squamish, we elevate the very essence of our community, making it more livable and artistically abundant. With each stroke of a brush, these murals foster genuine community engagement, forging stronger bonds among our residents.

More than mere paintings on walls, these murals instill a profound sense of belonging and pride within our community, while also acting as a powerful deterrent against graffiti and tagging. As we embellish our neighborhoods, we collectively shape and beautify our surroundings, allowing the true spirit of our town to shine.

Beyond the mesmerizing visuals, the Squamish Mural Walk carries with it a deep sense of gratitude and acknowledgment. We recognize that these magnificent murals are created on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation, honouring the Indigenous heritage that enriches our very foundation. So, come join us on this inspiring journey, as we uncover the hidden gems of our downtown neighborhood and celebrate the artistry that binds us together!
