Sk̲wx̲wú7mesh Squamish Together- Saturday July 1, 2023

May 12, 2023Community

Join us on Canada Day, July 1, for Sk̲wx̲wú7mesh Squamish Together, a celebration of community.

Sk̲wx̲wú7mesh Squamish Together is a day that celebrates our diversely rich community amongst live music, art, food and beverage, and craft from many community groups and cultures. We believe that everyone has something to contribute and that diversity is our greatest strength.

Every aspect of this event has been carefully considered to ensure a welcoming and safe environment for everyone. We are committed to creating a space where people of all backgrounds, identities and beliefs feel comfortable expressing themselves and being who they are.

We have taken steps to ensure that our event reflects the needs of everyone and is accessible to all members of our community and our visitors.  If you have specific needs or accommodations, please let us know in advance, and we will do our best to make sure that you feel comfortable and can fully participate.

Musical guests will include Squamish Nation Welhtima Kexwusem song and dance group, Lil’wat Nation artist and performer Alex Wells, Local bands Little City Big Sound, Ant Hill Kids, Will Ross and The Hairfarmers, plus performances by the Sea to Sky Dance Collective, a traditional self-defense display from the Squamish Sikh community, and youth and family entertainer Ira Pettle.

Activities for the kids will include face-painting, balloon art, roaming artists, hula hooping and family entertainer Ira Pettle.

At Cleveland Avenue and Junction Park, the X̱ex̱e7énaḵ Creators Together Market will feature art, clothing, textiles, beadwork, ceramics and other local goods as well as an opportunity to meet the people behind some of Squamish’s best known community organizations including Sea to Sky Allies, Squamish Rebuild, Squamish Welcome Centre and Squamish Community Foundation.

Food trucks will line Cleveland Avenue serving tacos, hot dogs, fish and chips and more. Guests 19+ may enter the Backcountry Brewing beer garden between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Active and sustainable transportation to and from the event is highly encouraged. OurSquamish Placemaking Society will be offering free and secure valet-style bike parking at Stan Clarke Park for the duration of the event in an effort to reduce vehicle traffic. Free weekend service will be provided on all transit routes. All-day event parking will be available at the Squamish Adventure Centre parking lot. Cleveland Avenue will be closed from Victoria to Main Street to pedestrian traffic only.
