Atheana Picha
Atheana Picha is a Coast Salish artist from the Kwantlen First Nation, with family ties to the Tsartlip First Nation. Known by the names Xwii Xwa (“echo”) and Nash’mene’ta’naht (“Go-getter”), her multidisciplinary practice includes murals, carving, weaving, ceramics, and printmaking. Since 2018, she has created public art throughout the Lower Mainland, including murals, vinyl installations, and permanent works such as the crossbeam on the Stalewasum Bridge. Her work has been exhibited locally and internationally and is held in the collections of Simon Fraser University, Burnaby Art Gallery, and Surrey Art Gallery.
