ANGIE VAZQUEZ: SQUAMISH MURAL WALK SPONSORSHIP INTERVIEW

November 4, 2021News

We’ve interviewed some of our 2021 Squamish Mural Walk Sponsors to find out why they chose to get involved and what they love about Downtown Squamish!

Angie Vazquez, Real Estate Agent at Engel & Voelkers Squamish sponsored one of the temporary murals this year for the Squamish Mural Walk. As a local real estate agent representing the Sea to Sky Corridor, she helps people find their dream homes or next real estate investment. “From professional photography to packing, moving and renovations, I’ve got a team of amazing individuals and businesses behind me to make sure that it’s a positive and memorable experience for my clients. It’s the Angie Experience!” – Angie Vazquez

Angie sponsored the mural by Artist Athena Picha that resides on Victoria Street and Cleveland Avenue across from The Copper Coil. We asked Angie a few questions about her love for Squamish and why she decided to be a sponsor this year.

First of all, we want to know what inspired you to want to be a part of the mural walk?

I LOVE community! I love that Squamish is always putting together events to get people out of the house and socialize. Especially after this past year, I was excited to sponsor this event knowing that it would be something people could visit all year round. Squamish is already such a vibrant town, but showcasing local artists artwork for everyone to see and enjoy makes it so much brighter!

What is your favourite business in Downtown Squamish and why?

Oh, I think there are too many to choose just one. I enjoy the donut shops – I am in at least one if not both of the donut shops weekly grabbing treats for client meetings or open houses. Squamish did not have any donut shops two years ago! Sunflower Bakery just celebrated its 2nd Anniversary and this past spring, Fox & Oak opened up too. And I absolutely love shopping in many of the downtown shops to find unique and locally made gifts that I can share with my friends, family, and clients. I also love XOCO as my go-to for birthday cakes and celebrations. And lastly, Green Olive is my favourite lunchtime spot. Too many amazing businesses to choose from!

What do you love most about having a business in Squamish?

It goes back to the community, I love the small town, tight-knit feel here. Everywhere I go I am always running into friends or seeing clients! I also love that the community is always putting together events and campaigns that encourage businesses and people to get out and mingle. It’s so special being a part of something bigger, and having a business in Squamish makes it easy for me to engage in the community.

What is your best piece of advice for any business owner?

Get to know and appreciate your clients. Without the support of my clients, I would not be where I am today. Amongst your busy days, slow down and do things to show your clients that you really care. Maintaining relationships with my clients has been so rewarding, and it motivates me to work harder so that I can give them the best service… and house!

The Squamish Mural Walk is a free, year-round self-guided tour of the 20+ murals in Downtown Squamish which includes new and existing murals.
