Events, Festivals and Culture
In addition to supporting events and festivals within the downtown Squamish core, the DSBIA produces the annual Squamish Community Canada Day and Parade and the Santa Clause Parade. Culturally, the DSBIA in conjunction with the Squamish Historical Society hosts a self-guided Downtown Squamish Heritage Walking Tour starting at the map located at the corner of Winnipeg Street and Cleveland Avenue. The DSBIA will officially be opening the Legacy Project Canoe Restoration Shed along the Blind Channel with the support of the District of Squamish and Canadian Heritage.


Business Recruitment and Promotion
The DSBIA’s long term goal is to diversify the downtown economy by attracting new businesses to the downtown core and expanding its boundaries. The DSBIA collectively promotes and supports downtown businesses through communications, marketing campaigns and events. If you are a new downtown business, please contact us for more information of what the DSBIA can do for you.


The DSBIA maintains a positive working relationship with the Mayor, Council and staff of the District of Squamish, the Squamish Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Squamish supporting downtown businesses’ interests. Members are encouraged to share their issues with the DSBIA Executive Director and Board of Directors. The DSBIA Board Meetings are held the third Wednesday of the month except August.


Passport to Shop & Win
A highly successful annual program held between November and December supported by downtown Squamish businesses to encourage local shopping during the holiday season. Passports can be picked up at participating merchants. Each time you shop, receive a stamp for every $10 spent before tax. There is a maximum of 5 full cards per single purchase. Completed stamped cards can be dropped off at participating merchants before the final draw takes place December 16, 2016. Winners receive 3 x $250, 2 x $500 or grand prize of $1000 Downtown Dollars. Funding Partnerships
With a limited annual budget, the DSBIA actively leverages sponsorship opportunities, grants and additional community funding from public and private partners. All funds raised goes directly towards downtown programming and marketing efforts to promote businesses in Downtown Squamish.
