PASSPORT TO SHOP & WIN

This year was easier than ever to take part in the Passport to Shop & Win campaign. Over 25 local downtown merchants were involved in this shop local campaign. It was advertised through locally sponsored media – the Chief Newspaper and Mountain FM. Other methods people learned about this popular shop local campaign was direct mail and online social media.

Every year the campaign brings added value to the community. The “Passport to Shop & Win” contest joined other holiday events downtown such as the Squamish Christmas Market, Santa Parade, and Christmas Lights in the Park. These are all part of the “The Heart of the Holidays” Downtown Squamish experience. As well as new this year was weekly prizes of $100 for 5 weeks plus it’s grand prize of $1000* (downtown dollars). The DSBIA would like to congratulate the winners this year Lori Payette, Robyn Lens, Brad Sondergaard, Stewart Grimm, Janet Kermeen of the weekly draw and the grand prize winner Auli Parviainen.

The Passport to Shop & Win is like a holiday themed rewards card that gives the shopper the chance to win. The contest has been a success not only with shoppers but also economically as well as last year’s event translated into twice as many shoppers participating in the program.

Many people were talking about the contest (convinced they would win, of course) but more importantly, shopping local. We even had people traveling from out of town to shop and to have a chance at winning.

Approximately 30% of the cards were returned full and over 1000 people participated in the contest. Overall, the DSBIA feels this was an impressive buy-in for shopping local.
