Canada Day

Downtown Squamish has been the host of some great street events and there are more to come. Cleveland Avenue, the heart of our downtown, is transforming into somewhere the whole community can come to celebrate. It's the perfect place with eclectic store fronts and personal charm and the business owners are some of the most passionate community oriented people in Squamish.

Coming up, Canada Day July 1st will be a street event to be remembered. The celebration of our national holiday is in the heart of every Canadian and will be celebrated in the heart of our community. The Downtown Squamish Business Improvement Association is proud to present a lineup of fabulous events for the community of Squamish.

The day begins with a traditional Legion Parade with Cadets, Scouts & Pipe Band. The parade is followed by the Canada Day official Flag Raising ceremony at the War Memorial Flag.

All day the centre of town will be filled with family fun, kids carnival games and puppet show. Other family fun planned will be a bouncy castle, limbo & heavy hoops & a dunk tank. Street Hockey will be happening on Cleveland Ave. starting with a kids’ game at 1:30 and adults game at 2 pm. And for more street fun, graffiti artist Stan Matwychuk will be on site to showcase a wild new project that will help transform a tired structure into a work of art for our downtown.

Around 4 pm there will be Canada Day Cake for everyone. And a little after, Cleveland will come alive with music - a true night of dancing in the streets with an incredible line up of 4 live bands and some DJ fun too. At 10:30 the night will light up with fireworks to end the celebration. Be sure to join us!

The Downtown Squamish Business Improvement Association would like to thank the Canadian Heritage foundation, Churchill Property Corporation and Rona for there funding assistance. Thank you to Test of Metal, Nesters Market and Squamish Music Live for sponsorship of products & services. Also thank you to our community newspapers the Chief and Garibaldi Times for sponsoring media coverage to this event.
