DSBIA Update Sept. 22, 2009

Good afternoon!

We are so happy with the attendance of Rumble to the Rock III, a true success! Some businesses were open and some were not. We encourage you to stay open when there are special events in Downtown. This leaves a very strong impression on our customers if they are closed. This was some feedback people said, 'why are some stores open and some stores closed?'

We understand that you may be overworked, and feel that Sundays are not very busy but our thoughts on this is that most people i.e. your customers have the day off on Sunday and want to shop. Staying open with consistent hours is very important to the vitality of good customer service.

We are considering proposing a 'mystery shopper' program. The purpose of this initiative would be to help business owners get an objective, third party evaluation of the quality of customer service in their business. Initially we might start with evaluation cards or better yet, some form of electronic capture directly into a database which is immediately available to all DSBIA businesses online.

We need to ensure that we provide that 'small town feel' when people patronize our businesses. We will keep you posted.

But the good news is that with Trev Deeley, the Classic Car Club and the DSBIA managed to raise over $3000.00 for the Squamish General Hospital, yippee!

Downtown Needs

The DSBIA Board is working on a presentation to present to Council and the Mayor on who we are, what we are doing and what the Downtown needs. We will be coming around to show you the finished presentation as well as getting your signature that you support this. The more voices there are in the Downtown business community, the more work we can get done.

Cleveland Closed for Filming

This Sunday they will be shooting a commercial from 6 am to 9 pm and will be using part of Cleveland. I have attached the letter for your reference.  Please note all businesses will remain open and public is permitted to visit the location during filming.
